In November 2025, Cornwall Council started a consultation on a couple of changes to car park charges including introducing a £1 per day charge for motorists who park at the park and ride sites at Langarth and Tregurra but do not use the park and ride buses. Unsurprisingly, there were objections from some to the introduction of these charges. However, the Council went ahead and formally sealed "The Cornwall Council (off street parking places) (amendment no.3) order 2024” with effect from 6 January 2026.
Today, I parked at Tregurra park and ride site to take my dog for a walk, went to the ticket office and asked if I could pay for a car park ticket as I was not going to be travelling on the buses. I was told that the charges had not yet come into effect; they did not know when they would come into effect; and they did not know how the system would work - whether there would be ticket machines or any other system.
I can only assume that someone, somewhere within Cornwall Council has a plan and that, at some time, all will be revealed.
