Motorists and bus passengers should expect significant disruption and lengthened journey times in mid Cornwall over the weekend of 16-19 June. The A30 will be closed between Scorrier and Boxheater junction (just west of Carland Cross) from 8 p.m. on Friday 16 June to 6 a.m. on Monday 19 June. This is to enable the new Chiverton Cross roundabout to be implemented to replace the existing roundabout. The impacts are as follows (extract from National Highways website):
• The A390 will also be closed during the weekend from Chiverton to Langarth Park & Ride.
• Diversion routes will be in place for all closures and agreed with Cornwall Council.
• Eastbound - all traffic will be diverted via the A3075 to Goonhavern and the B3285 to re-join the A30 at Boxheater. This diversion will operate in reverse for local traffic heading westbound.
• Westbound - through traffic and HGVs will be diverted via the A39, A393 and A3047. Please also use this route to access Truro.
• Access will be maintained across the A30, via the B3284 at Chybucca for emergency services’ vehicles and key bus routes only.
There will be increased traffic around Truro as a result and will likely impact on bus journey times. It is probably best to try to avoid the area as far as possible over this weekend.
