Free bus travel within (and coming out of) Plymouth on weekends in September
10 September 2026

Bus companies in Plymouth, in conjunction with Plymouth City Council and Plymouth Enhanced Bus Partnership, are offering free bus travel within the city of Plymouth on all weekends in September. Those weekends are 5-6 September, 12-13 September, 19-20 September, 26-27 September.

This offer benefits not just Plymouth residents but also residents of south east Cornwall who travel to Plymouth by bus. That is because the scheme includes travel on Go Cornwall buses and Stagecoach buses that start their journey in Plymouth but finish it outside of Plymouth. For example:
Go Cornwall 10 to Looe and Polperro
Go Cornwall 11 to Liskeard and Dobwalls
Go Cornwall 12 to Callington
Go Cornwall 70 to Torpoint and Cremyll
Go Cornwall 71 Derriford to Saltash
Stagecoach 2 to Saltash

In order to obtain free travel, passengers must board the bus within the city limit of Plymouth and continue on the same bus to their destination. However, the free travel does not apply for passengers going into Plymouth and boarding within Cornwall. In other words, if you plan a return trip into Plymouth from south east Cornwall, you will have to pay to go into Plymouth but then get free travel home - don’t buy a return ticket!

The scheme is advertised on the Plymouth City Council website and on the Stagecoach website but, bizarrely, is not currently advertised on the Plymouth Citybus website or the Transport for Cornwall website.
