Park and ride: new contract awarded but we can’t tell you who has won the contract!

As reported previously, Cornwall Council put out to tender the provision of the Truro park and ride service in May 2024 after the current operator, First, had given notice to terminate their contract. The Council has now made the formal decision to award a new contract but they are currently refusing to say who won the contract on the grounds of commercial confidentiality!

Thanks are due to the Cornwall Reports website for picking up on this decision and for pointing out that "Trying to keep secret the identity of the park-and-ride bus operator is clearly not sustainable and County Hall appears to be heading for another dose of ridicule because of its approach to information handling."
