The future provision of the Truro park and ride service has been uncertain for many months after First, the current operator, gave Cornwall Council 6 months’ notice to terminate the contract from August 2023. An agreement was reached between First and the Council to extend the service until the end of 2024, at what additional cost we do not know.
Now, as of early May 2024, the Council has published a notice inviting tenders to provide the service. The contract would run from 17 January 2025 until 31 March 2028.
One of the points made in the notice is "There is also an opportunity for bidders to outline their plans for better utilisation of the terminal buildings and to demonstrate how, via this contract, they can bring social value to Cornwall.” Perhaps one of the bidders could suggest using the terminal buildings to sell tickets for the park and ride service?
